Knights of the Tbخrida in one of the seasons -  archive

Have you ever seen a Moroccan show of fantasy? I did it, but a long time ago.

Stay with me to know the history of this art and what is more private compared to other arts in Morocco.

Moroccan Fantasia or 'Tborida ’ is one of the oldest traditional arts in Morocco and is one of the characteristics of authentic Moroccan culture, especially when organizing festivals and festivals.

The word tborid is derived from the word "gunpowder", an ancient art in the equestrian world dating back to the fifteenth century; it is a re-representation of the military attack against the enemies of the Arabian knights and the Amazigh. From generation to generation, Taborda maintained its strong spiritual dimension, especially as it places the horse as sacred simpol in Islam.

Tborida has received great interest among the Moroccan and international public, and is associated with festive competitions such as: seasons, agricultural holidays, and many national and family holidays. Are still known to foreigners as "Fantasia" of Latino origin, meaning entertainment.

In the show, dozens of men riding horses and horses carrying conventional guns stuffed with gunpowder, are fired at the end of the track, making the noise higher.

Fantasia consists of groups of 10 people called the "serpa" group led by the head of group called raiss.

Before the show the horses get a shower , tand dressed in a special garment, named sergeas a horse riders, also dressed in a traditional suit.

In Moroccan families, the horse is usually inherited and at least one horse must be kept by one of the families riding the horse and participating in one season after another even if the father becomes a great coach, training his son and so on.

The race takes place on a track called the "mehrek", which runs between 151 and 200 meters. The dress worn by the knights is a traditional and uniform dress consisting of:
• - Simple symmetrical or embroidered brackets,
• Traditional trousers,
• Sufi woolen,
• - Turbines,
• Traditional shoes (tag),
hangars

Since Berbers and Arab Berber horses have a close relationship to wars, they are the most suitable for Tborida.

The first time I saw a show, I was a kid at ten, where I went with my family and some friends, a way to move from the village to the season for an hour, through the carriages, there is someone who goes by bike, car or taxi.

In this video of the first Moroccan channel, I invite you to watch the new 2017 show, but watching it closely is different and wonderful.

Summer in Morocco 2025: Traditions, Daily Life, and Cultural Rhythms

Summer in Morocco in 2025 is not only about the heat and the sunshine; it is a season of social rhythms, cultural gatherings, and daily habits that shape life across the country. As temperatures rise, Moroccans naturally adapt their routines, shifting much of their activity into the cooler hours of the evening when families and friends fill the streets, cafés, and seaside promenades. In coastal cities such as Casablanca, Rabat, and Tangier, the Atlantic breeze softens the summer atmosphere, turning the evenings into lively social occasions. Families stroll along the corniche, children play near the water, and young people gather in open cafés where mint tea and fresh juices remain essential companions to conversation. This nightly migration toward public spaces is one of the most distinctive features of Moroccan summer life. In Marrakech, Fez, and the historic towns of the interior, the story takes a different turn. The heat of the day pushes life into the shaded alleys of the...
