The Moroccan national team in the World Cup.. Will the dream come true?

I eagerly follow the FIFA World Cup, which is taking place in Qatar and is considered one of the best tournaments so far because of the beautiful stadiums, the splendor of the organization, and the proximity of the stadiums to each other. Even the FIFA President attended two different matches, which was impossible in the World Cup in Russia.

But what interests me in this article is the participation of the Moroccan national team, and its qualification to the second round of the tournament, where it will face the Spanish national team. The match will not be easy.

As a good follower of the World Cup, I followed the historic qualification of the Moroccan national team for the first time to the round of 16 in the 1986 World Cup in Mexico as the first Arab and African team to reach this stage of the World Cup.

And the image of the match against Portugal is still in my mind since I was a child, but this year it is not possible to accept less than a quarter of the end until we leave the past and cross into the present and the future.

The Moroccan national team played big matches against Croatia, Belgium, and Canada, who left the competition, so Croatia, who will face Japan, and Morocco, who will face the Matadors tomorrow, Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at four in the afternoon, Casablanca time, at the Education City Stadium.

The Moroccan public is thirsty for joy, so people rushed to the street immediately after qualifying and raised flags as an expression of the joy they had missed for more than 30 years, but it was not complete yet.

I expect the national coach, Walid Regragui, to play with a mixed plan between defense and attack, as a mixture of the Croatia and Belgium matches, to decipher the defensive code of the Spanish team that plays short balls on the ground and creates opportunities.

Morocco's squad is diverse and good and can cross, and it represents not only the Arabs after the exit of Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar but also the Africans after the exit of Cameroon, Ghana and Senegal, who were defeated yesterday in the round of 16 by the England team.

With much determination and persistence, the Moroccan national team can create a surprise in the World Cup, and the Spain match will be a major determinant. If it exceeds it, it can cross the half, and why not the end.

The professional players in the Moroccan national team are well aware of the scale of the challenge and have a European football culture that can contribute to crossing over to the next rounds.

Back to Doha

I visited Doha 8 years ago when the stadium buildings were in the process of being completed, and what Qatar did was more than wonderful. During this period, I visited Al-Rayyan, Mushaireb, Al-Ghanim Al-Atiq, Al-Wakra, Al-Sadd, and other areas in the summer it was not easy, as the temperature was very high and it was not The transportation system as it is now, there was a large bus station near Al-Fardan Center in the city center medina just near souk wakef, expensive blue taxis, and private cars similar to the Uber application.

Summer in Morocco 2025: Traditions, Daily Life, and Cultural Rhythms

Summer in Morocco in 2025 is not only about the heat and the sunshine; it is a season of social rhythms, cultural gatherings, and daily habits that shape life across the country. As temperatures rise, Moroccans naturally adapt their routines, shifting much of their activity into the cooler hours of the evening when families and friends fill the streets, cafés, and seaside promenades. In coastal cities such as Casablanca, Rabat, and Tangier, the Atlantic breeze softens the summer atmosphere, turning the evenings into lively social occasions. Families stroll along the corniche, children play near the water, and young people gather in open cafés where mint tea and fresh juices remain essential companions to conversation. This nightly migration toward public spaces is one of the most distinctive features of Moroccan summer life. In Marrakech, Fez, and the historic towns of the interior, the story takes a different turn. The heat of the day pushes life into the shaded alleys of the...
