Casablanca derby ... Moroccan football madness (exclusive video and photos)

On December 22nd, I had the opportunity as a journalist to attend the derby between Wydad and Raja, who is Derby 127 of Round 10 of the Moroccan Professional Championship, where IT ended up defeating WYDAD , the RED team FRONT OF its traditional rival RAJA WITH goal TO  zero.

In Casablanca, the largest city in Morocco, the derby day is dominated by two colors with no third, green, which is the color of RAJA, and red, which is the color of widad.

The confrontations between two teams are historical. Al-Ahmar  red team was established in 1947, and the Green team was established in 1949, and they are two ancient teams in Morocco. They have a long history of playing, titles and championships, and they are the most famous teams in Morocco and the Arab world.

But in this post I will not talk much about football as a game and about confrontation on the field, but I will talk about confrontation in the stands between fans, where the amount of creativity and messages is very fairy.

In this video I photographed with my phone on Derby Day, you can see how the encouragement is and how you hear the songs that rock the flanks of the famous stadium in central Casablanca.

But the most prominent confrontation that you will not forget easily is a confrontation on November 23, 2019, in the form of competitions for the round of 16 of the Arab Cup, or the King Mohammed VI Cup of Champions Clubs, where the spectator turned into an unprecedented Hollywood scene and Hitchcocky, so how did that happen? watch video below article.

Al-Rajaa club Team this day achieved an unprecedented and historic “Rimontada” in the future, kidnapping it to qualify for the Mohammed VI Football Cup quarter-finals, after turning its back from 4 goals to a goal to equal 4 times, in the match that brought them together Saturday evening, 23 November 2019, at Mohamed V Stadium in Casablanca, in the second leg of the Mohamed VI Football Cup quarter-final.

The Al-Rajaa Sports Team entered the match, pressing for the goal of Reda Al-Tekhnouti, creating a set of opportunities, the most dangerous of which was available to player Bader Bannon, in the sixth minute, but the defense removed it from the goal line.

The event was absent from the attackers of Raja, but it was present at Wydad, who was awarded a penalty kick, in the tenth minute, by Mohammed Al-Nahiri for a goal in panenka style.

This goal, mobilized the midfield and attack of the green team, which increased the pressure on the friendly defense, creating a great number of opportunities, not transferred to goals, because of the solidity of the defense, the acceleration of the attack, or the brilliance of the Taganouti goalkeeper.

Wydad, completely retreated backwards, relying on counterattacks, a method that enabled him to maintain the result of the progress, to end the first half of the match time with a goal without response in favor of the host team Wydad.

The second round, which started with a very exciting scenario, after Mohsen Mitwalli managed to adjust the result and repeat the confrontation counter to zero, in the 49th minute, but the red team quickly returned to progress again, by Ayman Al-Hassouni, in the 57th minute, and Ayoub Al-Kaabi added the third goal One minute later, taking advantage of a mistake by defender Sanad Al-Warfalli.

While the fans of Raja were waiting for a reaction from Mohsen Mitwalli's colleagues, Badi Aouk will add the fourth goal, taking advantage of a defensive coverage in the 72nd minute
.

But when everyone thought that the match was over and Hitchcock would not return again, the substitute, Hamid Haddad, returned the hope for the match again, after he scored for the second goal in the 75th minute.

In the 88th minute, Raja gets a penalty, Mohsen Metwalli converted it to a third goal. In the manner of Panenka as well.

While everyone waited that the match would end with what it ended, Malongo will be able to score the fourth equalizer in stoppage time, one minute away from the Egyptian referee's whistle, the goal that gave Raja the pass to the quarter, joining the Olympic Safi.
it was a historic match ever seen .

have a good night.

Summer in Morocco 2025: Traditions, Daily Life, and Cultural Rhythms

Summer in Morocco in 2025 is not only about the heat and the sunshine; it is a season of social rhythms, cultural gatherings, and daily habits that shape life across the country. As temperatures rise, Moroccans naturally adapt their routines, shifting much of their activity into the cooler hours of the evening when families and friends fill the streets, cafés, and seaside promenades. In coastal cities such as Casablanca, Rabat, and Tangier, the Atlantic breeze softens the summer atmosphere, turning the evenings into lively social occasions. Families stroll along the corniche, children play near the water, and young people gather in open cafés where mint tea and fresh juices remain essential companions to conversation. This nightly migration toward public spaces is one of the most distinctive features of Moroccan summer life. In Marrakech, Fez, and the historic towns of the interior, the story takes a different turn. The heat of the day pushes life into the shaded alleys of the...
